Spirit Day

Wednesday, October 20th is LGBD Spirit Day.

A day to stand up to bullies and make it known that bullying is NOT OK!

Spirit Day was started by a Canadian teen, Brittany McMillan, using her account. This shows how much power the internet has, and how much good can come out of it.

Wear purple to support the Stop Bullying Campaign and in memory of the teens who have taken their own lives because of bullying.  Thousands of Facebook, Tumblr, Twitter,  and other social network users are supporting the cause and throwing on their purple attire.

Directly for the Spirit Day Facebook page:
It’s been decided. On October 20th, 2010, we will wear purple in honor of the 8 homosexual teenagers who committed suicide in recent weeks/months due to homophobic abuse in their homes at at their schools. Purple represents Spirit on the LGBTQ flag and that’s exactly what we’d like all of you to have with you: spirit. Please know that times will get better and that you will meet people who will love you and respect you for who you are, no matter your sexuality. Please wear purple on October 20th. Tell your friends, family, co-workers, neighbors and schools.
RIP Tyler Clementi, Asher Brown, Seth Walsh, Justin Aaberg,Eric Mohat, Meredith Rezak, Raymond Chase and Billy Lucas. You are loved.
Wear purple and show your support!

It is OK to be who you are!
You are fabulous!
