MAC Do-the-Trick Buff and Line Brush Set

Recently I have been getting a lot of e-mails asking me what MAC brushes I would recommend for new buyers and someone who is not experienced with trying or perhaps spending the big loot on some of those big ticket brushes from MAC. I never really have the answers because I don't usually spend the money on the brushes when I go to MAC...I always find something else to splurge on. It seemed pretty silly for me to spend close to $50 on one brush, when I could get a similar one at a lower price elsewhere.

MAC does cut us some slack around the Holiday season!

MAC released their holiday collection (Magic, Mirth & Mischief) which include sets with a generous amount of brushes or pigments, all together for one decent price. I was extatic over the "Do-the-Trick Buff and Line" Brush Set which consisted of 5 brushes for a total of $49.50 - which is a great brush! You're basically getting each brush for $10 bucks.

The sets also come with a gorgeous pouch so you can store your brushes or bring them along! The bag is extra roomy, so you can fit many more of your items in to tag along with you for the day!

The brushes have shorter handles than the regular MAC brushes, and some say the quality isn't as great, but everyone has their opinions. In my opinion, these are totally worth it. I have been lemming over the #187 Duo Fibre brush, and this set has it! The normal price tag for the #187 brush is $48, so you're getting a great deal on it. I actually prefer the shorter handles as well because they are easier to carry around with you if you choose to, and I just like the easier application.

You can find this set, along with the rest of the amazing sets for sale with the Holiday 2009 Collection at your local MAC store or booth.

  1. I totally agree they WORTH IT ! I have the original 168 (angled brush if I am right) and I got the samll one in a kit like this one, verdict : Identical!

and I love short handle too like you said so much easier to carry in a case or in your purse =)

  2. Hmm I hope we have that here in Australia! It would make a great travel set. I love Mac brushes, I think they're the best.

  3. Thanks for posting this! I always wanted to try the brush sets but haven't heard good things about them.

The only thing that sucks is I don't see an 'ideal' brush set for me, like, I may like 1 or 2 brushes, but the other 3 or 4 I'll never end up using. :/

  4. I completely agree that you should wait until the holidays to purchase MAC brushes. I've found brushes for $1.99 that are identical to some MAC ones, so buying each individual brush is just not worth it to me. But, I love travel size brushes! They're easier to store and the handles don't hit my mirror when I need to get up close for application. Not to mention they are ADORABLE! Are these the brushes you showed on Twitter?

    Thanks for the post!

  5. FINALLLLY!! Im still debating whether or not to get this set! hmmmmmm im such a sucker I prolly will! lol xoxox

  6. I love gift sets!!! I need a job ASAP so I can haul on these deals!

  7. The MAC 187 brush is on my X-mas wishlist. Hmmm...5 brushes for $50 and the 187 brush is included! I might not be able to wait til X-mas now. Thanks for the heads up!

  8. Definitely buying this!

I got a similar set with the 187 brush about 2 years ago and it got STOLEN from me! *tear*

  9. I dunno who says their brushes aren't worth it - I live for them. I just cleaned MAC out today with my friends... and yes yes yes my friend got the eye brush set. Totally worth it and totally worth the bag and price.

    Smart shopping lady!

  10. Ahh! Great deal! I didn't know the new collection has this set! Now I want it badly =D I've been wanting that 187 >.<

  11. Oh my, I bought this set last night @ my MAC in Nordstroms, I'm in love :)

  12. Cool, wish I had it! Do enjoy and maybe you can give us a review on how the brushes feel and work?! Let us know if they're really worth it behind all that hype.

  13. They are so awesome!!!

how this set compare to this red Adore Carmine set?

    thank you
