How to: Fix your broken powder makeup

I could not count the amount of money I have wasted by throwing away makeup that I thought was trash, when I could have fixed it. There is no need to throw your money away on perfectly good makeup!

If you happen to break you powder makeup, you can easily fix it with alcohol (rubbing alcohol) and patience!

This works for any kind of powder based makeup, such as bronzers, blot powders, eyeshadows, whatever!

As you can see I broke my favorite bronzer - MAC "Refined Golden", and instead of buying a new one, which is out in the "Style Warriors" collection, I decided to fix mine and save my money.

All you need is a few drops of alcohol into your broken powder compact. Usually it would be said to use 75%+ based alcohol, but this is because the more alcohol concentrate, the faster it dries. Any percentage of alcohol will do though, because I like to leave it out to dry overnight.

Don't worry about the alcohol staying in the powder and causing your skin to dry out, it will completely evaporate. Alcohol dries very quickly that is why it is recommended for use on new wounds on your body, because it evaporates very fast and leaves little residue. The odor will also go away.

So how does it work?

Here are the steps!

  • Add a few small drops into your broken powder makeup compact or casing.
  • After you add the alcohol to the broken powder you will notice it seep into the powder causing it to become soft.
  • Smudge the soft soaking powder around, making it into a paste-like substance and re-form it by smoothing it out with your finger. You will know exactly what to do!
  • You can then smooth the surface out with the bottom of a spoon if you choose to, but remember that it does not have to be perfect to work perfectly.
  • Let it dry overnight for best results.

Now you can use your powder makeup again without making a mess and spending more of your hard earned money!

The next day - All dry and ready to be used again!

Now stop wasting your hard earned money, and go fix your broken makeup!

Swatch - MAC Lipstick - Creme D' Nude

Here is a swatch of MAC Creamsheen finish lipstick in "Creme D' Nude". Its a pale muted peach beige. I am a huge fan of the new formulation creamsheen finish lipsticks because of the way the lippies have a glossy and creamy finish on their own.

Pix - Last Weekend

Last weekend Jerrid and I drove over to the east coast to visit my parents and spend some time together for Father's day. My parents have been remodeling the house so I helped my mom clean up some stuff and put a a lot of things away in my room.

I was so heartbroken because when it was time to take pictures of the family for Father's day, my camera battery died! That's what I get for cam whoring so much in my room.

Even though this is not salient in the least bit, I wanted to share some of the pictures I took of myself, because...that's what us girls do!

Next time we head back over to visit my house, I will be sure to actually take some pictures with the family!

In my mirror again! haha
My room is pink now :)

The baby did what he does best...sleepy sleep

About Face Cosmetics - More Pigments

I purchased some more 50 cent samples from About Face Cosmetics at

Here are some swatches. I am going to buy some small jars to put the sample pigments into and then will try to do looks with them using a homemade mixing medium (which I will blog about in a future post).

Let me know if you had purchased any pigments from About Face Cosmetics and how you like them!

Mario Badescu Skincare

I have written about Mario Badescu products a coupe of times on my blog before and I probably will for as long as I keep getting these amazing results! I love Mario Badescu skincare products and should thank my friend Melissa for mentioning the brand to me in the first place. You can check out my review on the MB drying lotion HERE. I love this stuff! It gets rid of pimples basically overnight!

I recently tried 4 products from the line and am very pleased with my results, so I'm going to rave about them! During my pregnancy my skin has been quite dry and many moisturizers, even ones which I loved in the past, tended to break me out. Even after I had my baby, my skin has not just bounced back to normal overnight, so I am so glad to have found this stuff. It really helps me keep my skin fresh, hydrated, and helps me fight acne without all those harsh chemicals that are usually found in other skincare products and it doesn't break me out or irritate my skin. Also, they don't test their products on our beloved furry friends...yay!

Where to buy: or at Nordstrom

Here's what I got and what I think of it...

Enzyme Cleansing Gel

I love the cool sensation of this gel cleanser and it does an amazing job at removing a lot of my makeup without the harshness of a scrub. After I wash my face with this gel cleanser I feel as though I had used a scrub. My skin feels so much smoother and softer without the drying feeling that other cleanser tend to leave. It is a non-foaming cleanser which is probably the reason to the moisturized feeling afterwards, usually its the foam in soaps and cleansers that end up drying out skin the most. This is a non-soap, oil-free based formula and exfoliates with papaya and cirtus, so it is natural. Just team it up with a toner or astringent afterwards and its the perfect acne fighter.

I love the packaging. The typical clean Mario Badescu look, with a cute opaque bottle so you can see the green gooey liquid inside. It has an easy open top of the bottle, which instanlty turns the bottle into a squeezy tube, so you don't end up leaving a mess everywhere. It is also a rather large bottle - 8 oz., so you get a lot of product for the price in comparison to other products which run around the same size. (8oz. - $12)

Oil Free Moisturizer (SPF 17)

This moisturizer is perfect for me because it is oil free, and contains a sunscreen which helps big time especially living in Florida. My skin does no react very well to sunscreens, they usually break me out, even if they are oil free, so this moisturizer has been a life saver for me because it helps my skin stay moisturized all day, and protected from the sun without the itchy burning feeling I usually get from sunscreens. I love using this moisturizer under makeup too, it really leaved that dewy look since your skin is very hydrated but not shiny and oily. I just wish it came in a larger size! I get a little too nervous to use too much of it because I don't want to waste it or run out of it anytime soon and have to buy it for $22 bucks, even though its totally worth it. Mario Badescu also sells this same product without the sunscreen in it for those of you who are not interested in that, even though it is better for your skin! The sun is very damaging and can even scar your skin or drastically increase healing time for your acne.

Again, this product has the same cute top that turns the bottle into a squeeze tube, which I love! It won't leak all over your stuff in your purse so I get to take this baby around with me everywhere and I don't worry about the cap falling off or opening. Thank you, whoever thought of this top!

I went on and looked at the other moisturizers they carry, and some of them look really interesting and intriguing, which is bad for me because now I need to add them to my wishlist. They carry a Honey moisturizer, as well as a collagen infilled one, an Aloe one, and Buttermilk! My skin is craving!

Cucumber Tonic Mask

What could I say more about this mask, it just sounds good by the name! I could not wait to get my hands on this one. It feels so cool and rich on your skin and again, doesn't leave it all dry and scaly when you wash it off, but still does the job by tightening your pores. It also smells so good which is not very common for a mask. It comes in a 2 oz. jar ($18), and right when you open it, the liquid is already moist and ready to apply. You also don't need a lot of the product to get the job done, which is great, since I am such a sucker for not liking to use too much of my products...times are tough alright? You apply a thin layer to your face, avoiding the eye area, and wait 15-20 minutes. Then you wash it all off and apply your moisturizer.

Vitamin E Body Lotion (Wheat Germ)

This is a body lotion from the line which runs at around $10 for a 6oz. bottle and $22 for a 16oz. bottle. I love the smell of this lotion and how light it is. I hate having that greasy feeling on my skin especially now since its summer and I live in Florida = death heat. With this lotion I don't automatically sweat it all off as soon as I step out the door even if I had just put it on.

There are so many lotions I want to try such as the Botanical Firming Lotion, the Formula 200 body lotion (sounds intruiging) and the papaya lotion. They just all sound so yummy and I am always in need of lotion since I use so much of it, besides the fact that Jerrid runs through 1000 bottles a week and he doesnt even need that much. He likes to lotion up his abs and make them shiny...I just like having well nourished skin.

Have you ever tried Mario Badescu products and which ones do you love?

I can't believe...

...that my baby is 3 weeks old today!

It feels like I gave birth to him, what seems to be yesterday, and now he is 21 days old! He is such a joy to have, I literally feel as though I am living in a dream. I never knew how a little baby could change my life and make me deeply happy and proud. I feel like I finally see the world in color!

I love him so much!

He likes to raise the roof while sleeping...

Daddy loves his baby!

What it is / the claim: A makeup finishing spray that creates a freshly applied look for the entire day.

I bought this product after reading a bunch of positive reviews about it on Even though the price was not very attractive ($29 bucks for a 2 oz. bottle) I figured it was worth a shot, its hard to turn down a product that claims that it could do so much. I wanted to see what all the hype was about and to my great displeasure, I didn't jump for joy at the results.

FEATURED IN Makeup Finishing Spray, Face and Eye Makeup Primer, T-Zone Makeup Primer
When using this product I found that it really made no difference in the appearance of my makeup and as for longer lasting...I didn't see any of that either. In fact, I really dislike the spray mist that leaves rather large water drops on your face that dry and end up being clearly visible spots as if you threw water on your face, especially when you use mineral makeup, it separates it big time. As for use on liquid foundation, it does not separate the foundation like it does the mineral makeup, but makes your makeup feel much heavier and a little dry.

If I were to bring this bad boy back into action in my makeup arsenal I would probably look for another spray bottle with a finer mist and give it another shot, but as for now, I give it a 2 out of 5. I will also try blending the mist into the foundation using a due fibre brush (i.e. MAC 187 brush) and see how that works since just leaving the mist on your face as it comes out of the bottle is really not working.

Review : Mark Tinted Moisturizer

Product: 4 out of 5
Packaging: 3 out of 5
Quality: 4 out of 5
Overall: 4 out of 5
Price: $8
Where to buy: Click here
Would I buy again: Yes
What it is: A tinted moisturizer.Recently changed from "C-thru Beautifying Sheer Tint" to "Get a Tint" Moisturizer. A better quality Benefit Rebel TM dupe.

I have always loved Benefit's Rebel tinted moisturizer but really didn't love the price tag that came along with it and it also left my skin with a orange hue and greasy shine to it. Benefit's Rebel tinted moisturizer runs for about $30, which is way too much money for me to be spending right now. So, I have been on the hunt for a tinted moisturizer that would give me some sort of coverage along with a hint of color. It is a real hassle to wear foundation some days, especially when it is really hot, or when full coverage is absolutely unnecessary.

Since my mom became an Avon representative I have started to become more interested in the products and found that they are really affordable, which is right up my alley. Avon now sells Mark goodies on the website, so my mom is able to get Mark stuff too, which has been a company that I have been interested in for a while, so lately I have been trying out their products and I am really impressed!

I purchased the tinted moisturizer from mark, which cost me $8. I really like this moisturizer because it gives me great coverage and a perfect tint of color for my skin, since you have a much larger selection of colors to choose from, unlike Benefit which only allows you to choose from 2 tints and neither one suit my skin tone. Recently Benefit came out with a lighter version of their tinted moisturizer, but it still has that very orange hue to it, just like the original, so I really never liked it in the first place since it looks rather silly on me, especially after time and wear, it becomes more orange and super greasy looking.

Recently Mark upgraded their tinted moisturizer, since it was selling so well. They made the packaging a bit bigger - from 1.3 oz. to 1.6 oz. and renamed it dropping the "C-thru" in the name and just calling it "Get a Tint" tinted moisturizer. They also dropped a few shades and now carry the moisturizer in 4 shades. It is sheer coverage so you can't really go wrong choosing a shade that will blend in very well with your skin tone and doesn't leave your skin with a rusty orange look.

Benefit Rebel also broke me out big time. I felt as though it left my skin really greasy and if I had not removed it the second that I step foot in the door when I get home, I would have about 6 pimples by evening. The Mark moisturizer is more sheer than the Benefit moisturizer and comes onto your skin lighter, doesn't weigh it down and has pretty good coverage for a moisturizer. Of course you should not expect this moisturizer to cover up all your blemishes, but if you have uneven skin and choose not to use foundation, this is a great alternative for a much lighter daytime look. It doesn't look anything like you are wearing makeup and doesn't leave you looking like a butter ball.

China Glaze - "For Audrey"

Here is a swatch of "For Audrey"
I applied only one coat. That was all I felt was necessary.
(Excuse my horrible paint job..I was in a rush to the grocery store. I was hungry!)

Pix - Out and about

Here are some pictures from today. We went walking around at the Waterside Shops here in Naples, FL. It was so hot...hence the half smiles in the pictures. It was way too hot to enjoy ourselves, haha.

Poor daddy on his crutches.
