He's a trooper!

Yesterday was a very very busy day for me and Jerrid. He was scheduled to go into surgery at around 2:30 pm, so my mom drove on over from Fort Lauderdale to help out, since I would not be able to help Jerrid out all on my own, especially since he would not be able to walk or put any pressure on his leg after the surgery.

We drove him over to the surgery center and he was admitted in a few minutes. They got him dressed and ready for surgery and let us visit our little trooper before he went in for surgery. We shortly were told to leave and kissed Jerrid on the forehead and made our way out of there, praying and wishing that everything goes well.

The surgery went great! Within an hour and a half the nurse called my cell phone and let us know that Jerrid was doing great and he was in recovery. The surgeon was amazing! He was very quick and was extremely happy about the outcome of the surgery. He told my mother and I what he had done to fix his knee and let us know that he should be recovering better and quicker than previously expected.
Super trooper!
Cute socks! :)
I was so happy! I have been through surgery before myself, but I was not as nervous as I was when Jerrid was going through it. I know what I can handle, but knowing someone you love is going through surgery is so tough to cope with, especially while waiting.

While we were waiting, my mother and I stopped by Wal-Mart to pick up some more things for the baby...we ended up buying everything in the baby section. It's really easy to get carried away in there!

Anywhoo, I want to thank all of you for your extremely kind wishes for Jerrid to have a successful surgery and recovery! Your prayers have helped both of us deal with this situation.

Jerrid's fortune cookie from today's yummy Chinese!
Jerrid is doing great! He is recovering well and is not in much pain. He begins rehabilitation on Monday, but he has been doing leg lifts and foot pumps with great success! I am so proud of him and his strength is very inspiring!

Trina's Tips : Look younger with makeup

Makeup is an art, and as an artist for your own face, you should know your key features that you wish to accentuate and bring forth for that day. Most women tend to try to strip years off of their look with the help of makeup. Clearing up the complexion and diminishing the look of wrinkles with foundations, bringing out cheekbones with sculpting techniques and blushers, plumping lips with lipsticks and liners, bringing out the dramatic look and shape of your eyes with eyeliners, dramatic colors, and beautiful blending techniques, and so much more. There is so much more to makeup than color and combination.
Older and washed out
Younger and glowing
The one mistake I feel that many women can tend to make is to create an illusion of being an older age than they really are. Usually when too much emphasis is placed all around creating a dramatic illusion of make up that is too intense all around the face, it could pack on the years, rather than strip them away. Example being, dramatic eyes and dark dramatic lips worn together.

Kim K. looks washed out and aged in a dramatic eye and
lip combination to the left, and much younger and
glowing in natural tones on the lips and a dramatic eye.

Much better in dramatic lips and subtle lined eyes.
"Marilyn effect"
Creating a look with dramatic eyes as well as dramatic lips can somehow drain the skin of its natural glow, leaving your face looking washed out, and creating the illusion of age. Usually professional artists would recommend going light or nude on the lips, using neutral or natural colors to enhance the effect onto your dramatic eyes and take it away from your entire face, leaving your skin radiant, and the attention on your eyes rather than having too much going on stripping your skin of its beautiful glow.

This is why sultry smokey eyes are usually worn with neutral or nude lips. Also, nude and neutral colors on lips tend to make lips appear fuller.

If you are looking to go for a darker lip and extenuate the lower part of your face, it is better to keep eyes clean and subtle. This will allow more focus onto your lips and take it away from being overbearing and again strip your skin of its natural glow. Usually eye makeup will be done with a beautiful eye liner and a lighter toned shadow. If a darker shadow is used, it is kept close to the lashline and not to extend to the crease of the lid.

Gwen Stefani looks beautiful in a toned down eye and dramatic lip
Perfect example of the dramatic lip.

Review : Revlon Matte Lipstick

The pitch: Straight from the Runway shades ! Beautifully rich matte color glides effortlessly across lips. Suede-like, cushiony feel and with maximum color impact. Beautifully rich shades from nude to deepest berry.

Product: 3 out of 5
Packaging: 5 out of 5
Quality: 4 out of 5
Overall: 4 out of 5

Shade I bought: Nude Attitude
Many additional shades are available
Price: $6 - $7
Where to buy: Any retialer that sells Revlon, Ulta, Wal-Mart, Target, etc.
Would I buy again? Most likely

I gave into the hype of Revlon's new formulation matte lipstick. I've heard so many positive reviews on this lippie and after a quick Wal-Mart run, I had it in tact in my bag. I fell in love with the gorgeous nude shade - "Nude Attitude". Not only did the clever name have me at hello, but the color reminds me of "Belle Du Jour" from NARS, and rather than paying $24 for a matte lip pencil or lipstick from the high end brand, I thought I should try out Revlon's dupe.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Testing the lippie, it is very matte-like and a bit drying. It glides on the lips, is rather slippery and light, and tends to show and smear if you rub your lips together. If your lips touch togetehr it will show signs of touching and creasing. The texture really does remind me of NARS large lip pencils, which also create a very matte dry look on your lips and have this very slippery silky texture. Of course the NARS lip pencils are quite drying, but most matte products are since they do not have that moisturizing shine.

Photobucket

I personally would prefer to moisturize the lips prior to application or applying a gloss on top. This goes for most matte formulation lippies. They do tend to dry out, leave your lips looking flat, and often need applying.

Overall this is a great product. Maybe I feel this way because I love most lip products. This is a perfect dupe for NARS giant lip pencils and matte lipsticks and give you a perfect matte finish, if thats what your looking for. As long as your lips are moisturized and you do not mind reapplying your lipstick, this lippie is a good purchase, especially being priced under $10 and found basically anywhere.

Most likely I will re-purchase this product. I have my eye on "Pink Pout", since I would love to see how the baby pink matte would look. I love nudes and pinks...obviously, but I will have to decide whether or not I would really be able to put up with the texture.

I decided to check my MySpace acount today, just randomly. It has been a long time since I've logged in so I thought I'd drop by and see what was happening.

This is the message I got in my inbox:

I'm the bomb, like...tick, tick!

I am a ticking time bomb!

Any minute now my lil' guy will make his way into the world!

Okay...I think my baby just kicked me in the spine. It hurt and my leg had funny tingles all over. This means that this baby needs to hurry up and make it's way out of there!

I want to thank all of you for your amazing and kind wishes for me to have a safe and easy delivery. I have been really afraid and paranoid...as usual, and your kind words have made me feel so much better and keep a smile on my face.

Every time I get the slightest tinge in my tummy, I think its time to go to the hospital, so I think Jerrid is getting a little bit annoyed with me. I guess even though I am scared crapless, I still want it to be time to go to the hospital and see my lil' man already!

I bought another outfit to put on him. I mentioned before how I am obsessed with baby denim overalls, so I got him another adorable overall outfit from "A Children's Place". There is an outlet store here by me so I stopped by there last time and had to have it. It was 50% off, so it was $6 for the overalls and $3 for the matching shirt! I just hope the buttons won't be too annoying for him.
I don't really like the idea of carrying my baby in those ugly baby front backpack looking things. I just always tend to laugh when I see parents with those on. I know your baby likes looking around and it's convenient to wear that thing, but it's so darn ugly! They came out with a commercial recently with a man in that baby front pack thing in the grocery store...oh man, had me on the floor laughing.

I really like the baby slings that Camila Alves and Gwen Stefani wore when they're babies were lil' totters. I really love this one Gwen Stefani wore. The maya wrap baby sling. I am still a little discouraged that it's $65. It's a freakin peice of cloth with a ring on it. Guess I will have to settle with it since I like it so much. Maybe I'll find it for a better price. If any of you guys know where I could get this for a better price, let me know lovers!

Swatches: Angel, Hue, Myth

Over the past few days I have been asked what my holy grail lipsticks are. The answer to that question would have to be the first 3 MAC lipstick shades that I have ever purchased - Hue, Angel, and Myth.

These shades are very popular and are permanent. I always get backups when I am running low and have been turning to these lipsticks for my everyday look.

Hopefully these swatches will help anyone who is looking to purchase these colors online and has no way to swatch them in person. I know how hard it could be to make a decision on the perfect shade to pick. I always search the net to find swatches of lippies or other products I want to get if I can't personally get my own swatch due to lack of time, or just the ease of purchasing online.

Look how strangely my lippies wear down. There is a chart that was created that claims to be able to name off personality traits of people depending on the way their lipsticks wear down. According to the chart my flat top lipstick wear down means I am conservative, value my morals, and am careful about appearance. I guess, it kind of sums me up. If you want to check out my post featuring the Lipstick Personality Chart - click here.

It's summer time!

It seems like just about yesterday I was celebrating New Years to welcome in 2009, and now it's almost summer! School is coming to an end for the year and all the gals and guys are heading over to their formal events to celebrate the years and memories they have spent together.

Summer means going to the beach in our little bikinis and wearing sexy things to go party our nights away in the club.

In just a few days I will be popping this baby out and getting my body back to where it was before I got pregnant. It's so funny that right when I was feeling so good about my body and fitness that I got pregnant.

I'm glad that I am due soon! I get to play with my little munchkin in the warm weather and wear the cutest things. The best clothes always come out in the summer.

Remember that maxi dress that I wanted to get from Saks but figured I should wait? Well, I found a dress that I like better and its half the price! This dress is so perfect for the summer with the bright colors and its a maxi dress, which is so popular and in style right now.

I also instantly fell in love with this gorgeous off the shoulder uneven cut tunic.

All these items are totally affordable and they have so many items to choose from such as swimwear, shoes, skirts, bottoms. They even have super sexy lingerie. I may need to look into getting some little things to wear for Jerrid to make him feel better while he is recovering from his knee injury. Rawrrr...hehe.

Simply Nee's Hello Kitty Giveaway!

I love Hello Kitty!
Ever since her appearance in the 1970's, she has taken over the world by storm! I can't resist Hello Kitty and we were all reminded of how insane we will go over the cute Sanrio character when MAC recently launched the HK collection for our beauty needs.

Well, Simply Nee has come to the rescue!! She is holding a fabulous Hello Kitty giveaway! Check out her blog to see the unbelievable and generous prizes and submit your own entry!

The rules are simple...
  • You must answer her question on her post
  • You must be a follower
  • You must blog about the giveaway and link back to her
  • Contest closes June 5th at midnight
Her question was:

What is your favorite Hello Kitty item that you own?

My answer:

Photobucket

My Hello Kitty "Save our Oceans" t-shirt! I love this shirt because it features Hello Kitty and it also stands for a good cause! Not only is Hello Kitty cute, but she's environmentally conscious and influences us to be better for our planet.

Hello Kitty sets a good example with this shirt and I love the idea that the creator of the shirt used her image for a good cause! It shows how influential that little kitty really is and makes me love her even more!!! Not only is she adorable and lives in beautiful Sanrio world with other adorable animals, but she is helping us understand how important it is to save our own world and the adorable animals that inhabit it! Hello Kitty is a very popular icon, and it is a great idea to use her image to target such a broad range of people to recognize good causes!

Rimmel : London Invasion!

Rimmel Stay Matte Clarifying Foundation: A few weeks ago I broke out terribly on my face because of an allergic reaction to a cat. I clearly am aware of how allergic I am to cats but I still can't resist petting them and crying myself to insanity afterwards. This time my face terribly broke out and I had small pimple-like dots all over my face that itched so badly! I could not wear my normal foundation because it would hurt and burn. I was on the hunt for a gentle foundation that was light on my skin, would not hurt my skin, and lasted a long time. I instantly turned to the Rimmel Stay Matte Clarifying Foundation which promised a long lasting matte finish complexion for up to 12 hours with a gentle amount of skin clarifying botanical extracts to help sooth sensitive skin and is oil free. I was really impressed with the coverage and will most like buy this product again! It smooths onto your skin so nicely especially when applied to your hand first to warm it up a bit before applying it to your face. The foundation sets perfectly with any loose powder or on its own, which was perfect for me at the time because the less of anything I put on...the better for my outbreak!

Price - $6.99
Can be found in most drug stores.

To help my allergy go away and clear up my skin I used a product by Noodle & Boo called the "Ultimate Ointment". I will blog about this product and give you a complete review in a future post. It also helped me get rid of a tiny broken blood vessel that was under my eye. I remember seeing it for the first time a long time ago and it had not gone away since. It had been months and months! It was the most annoying thing to conceal and would constantly show up and become even more red when I would try any other products on it.

Rimmel Lasting Finish Mineral Powder: Another foundation I tried from Rimmel was the Mineral Foundation. The foundation contains more than 95% minerals and antioxidants such as Vitamin C and E and is considered a makeup-as-skincare product. The powder does a good job illuminating the skin and gives it a nice glow. The cute little spongy applicator that comes attached to the tube glides on the foundation nicely to your moisturizer or primer and lets you control how much coverage you want. It was fun putting on the foundation and really quick. You could apply it over the liquid foundation for a longer lasting and super matte finished look.

Price - $8.33
Can be found at most drug stores.

Rimmel Natural Bronzer: Again wit the natural products! I love bronzers! Smashbox bronzer happens to be my favorite bronzer ever, but since they do run a little expensive I figured it would be a good idea to get a great backup that is cheap and easy to get at any drug store. I chose the Rimmel brozer since it was made with natural products and was a pressed powder, so I could control how much is brushed onto my face brush. One thing I hate is that orangey look you get from too much bronzer. This bronzer lets you totally control a light layer of sun kissed goodness onto your cheeks and t-zone for a subtle but sexy glow. It also has the perfect amount of shimmer for that perfect sunkissed dancing glow whan the light hits your face.

Price - $5.17
Can be found in most drug stores.

Rimmel Color Rush Eye Shadow: Who doesn't love eyeshadow quads? They provide you with the perfect colors to get that smokey eye look that is so sexy and popular at the moment. Besides, they come with their own cute applicators so we don't have to keep cleaning our brushes after using a new color...unless we have 1000 brushes. I don't! I need to step my brush game up by the way.

These shadows are very light and not pigmented much. It does take a lot of swipes to get your desired color, so I usually use these for daytime wear since they give you a very clean look rather than a sultry deep color. It's more of a daytime smokey look. If you wish to get a deeper color from these quad, I would recommend using a primer.
  • Almond - nice brown hues
  • Smokey Purple - exactly what the name says...smokey purple!
Price - Around $5 - $6.
Can be found in most drug stores.

Anyway, here is a little update on whats going on...

Jerrid's team has a home game tomorrow night at 7:30pm. Jerrid won't be playing. His knee is not better, in fact he will need to have surgery to fix some problems with his left knee. Sometime next week he should be taken in for his surgery and then he starts his recovery. Jerrid hurt his knee a couple of weeks ago at the teams last home game. He had a pretty bad fall when his foot got caught in the turf.

Please pray that my baby has a wonderful surgery and recovers as quickly as possible. I know this is the price you pay when you play aggresive athletics, but I still can't help but feel terrible that the love of my life is in pain...so I do what any other girl would do: cry, constantly kiss him, and smolder him with hugs.

I will keep you posted on his recovery as well as my pregnancy!

As a matter of fact, thank you all so much for your very kind and encouraging comments about my pregnancy! It really motivates me to stay as strong as I possibly can when the time comes for me to go into labor. I am usually a very paranoid person, but you all have helped me relax and realize that I am not the only one who has felt this way. It helps a lot!

Pregnancy Update

Today I had my weekly check up with the doctor. Since I've been past 36 weeks my doctor started meeting with me every week rather than bi-weekly which is the case in the beginning of your third trimester. I have put on a healthy 20 pounds since my first visit to the doctor and I feel great!

I had an ultrasound today to measure the baby's weight and sizes as well as check up on some dates. My doctor was a little concerned, even though my last ultrasound which was 2 weeks prior, shows that everything was perfectly fine with the baby, he thought it would be good to check up on measurements again since my belly measures very small for how far along I am. He was surprised to see today that my baby is developing rather large for its gestational age and it makes me feel all the better as well.

When I first became pregnant and visited the doctor for the first time, the nurses asked me when the first day of my last period was. To be honest, I had no a clue. I was nervous and could not think straight. Rather than thinking of the first day of my last period, I was thinking of the last day and since I had remembered it to be not too long ago I gave them some kind of ridiculously estimated day that was way off what it really was. They assigned me a due date according to the date of me LMP (Last Menstrual Period) and that was that.

This was not a very good thing to do. When I realized that I was incorrect with the date I had given them, the nurses didn't really take it into consideration. I was literally...weeks and weeks off when I thought about it. I gave them an LMP of Sept. 1st. I know for a fact now that my period was wayyyyy before that. I could not think properly at the time though. I was still in shock that I was actually pregnant!

The previous practice I was with was employed with a very lazy bunch of nurses and doctors. I didn't feel like I was being well taken care of and they seemed to want to charge me for things that I was sure my insurance should cover, such as normal ultrasounds and blood tests.

For them to take no note of my changes in the date really threw my due date off. I recently moved to Naples to be with Jerrid during my pregnancy and while he is in season here with an arena football team. I have a new doctor and I am in love with the facility I get to go to! Its beautiful, clean, and the nurses and staff are incredible. They care so much and it makes me feel so much better to know everything as it happens and in detail. Being pregnant, you want to know everything...I mean EVERYTHING!

My records confuse my doctor and his staff so much because I show up to be so much farther along than what my due date from the previous practice states. My doctor basically has not much of an idea as to how far along I am...as accuratley as he would like. My first ultrasound, which came up to be my 14 week ultrasound...was written down to be an 11 week ultrasound since the office was still going by my LMP. Why it gets confusing is because the farther along you get, the harder it is to tell for sure, and 14 weeks for a first ultrasound without a proper due date is pretty far along.

Basically, I am a ticking bomb with no real date or anything. My doctor said I could be induced early if I choose, but if not he will not wait long after my due date to induce me.

So my bags are packed and we're just waiting for me to pop!

Todays update was:
  • 38 weeks & 4 days according to ultrasound.
  • Today my baby boy weighed in at 7 lbs. 8 oz. and 19 inches long. (According to ultrasound)
