Boys will never understand...

Sometimes my boyfriend laughs at me for the silly things that I do. These things are something that men will never understand. They are women things and girls you know what I'm talking about! Like fat clothes! Men will never understand fat clothes.

Here is a list of funny things that only women will understand :
  1. Crying can be fun. The more senseless the cry, the funner!
  2. There is no scale on the planet that is accurate.
  3. A good man might be hard to find, but a good hairdresser...thats nearly impossible.
  4. You can never have too much lip gloss or too many black shoes.
  5. There is a purpose to taking pictures before you step out the door. (To see what you really look like)
  6. Finding a designer dress on the sale rack in your size is a peak life experience.
  7. We know the difference between white, off-white, and ivory.
  8. When we go to the gynocologist, we know damn well the doctor will see all of our goodies, but we will still roll our panties into the smallest ball and stuff them as deep into our bag as possible. God forbid he sees those!
  9. We will get all done up, just to take pictures of ourselves.
  10. You can get away with anything as long as you compliment us.
  11. A phone call between two women will never last under 10 minutes, even if you hate them.
  12. Women understand other women.
  13. It's always the guy's fault (LOL)

Trina's Tips: Simple "Smokey Eye" Look

This is my first tutorial and I wanted to start out by doing a simple "Smokey Eye" so you can get an idea of what I do to get the look I usually wear. I love the smokey eye look and find it to be simple, perfect for me and versatile for any color eyeshadow. You can "smoke" any eye shadow color, from bright colors to neutral naturals.

The "Smokey Eye" is a very popular, super sophisticated and sexy look, and you'll be happy to know that it is very easy to achieve!

Don't be intimidated by the dramatic look it gives your eyes, because in reality, you have plenty of room for error and its very easy to touch up.

Makeup is art...and you are not required to be a master artist to be good at it. Do you guys remember Bob Ross? The guy with the 30 minute painting TV show? Well, I live by his quote:
"There are no mistakes...just happy accidents!"

The first step to achieve any great look on your eyes, you should start out with a primer. Preparing your eyes with primer gives your eyeshadow the best base. Eyeshadow will "pop" and stay put longer if you use a primer. Primers also keep your shadow from creasing and getting greasy, as they can tend to do, since we are humans and we do produce skin oils.

I usually use a MAC Paint Pot in 'Painterly'. Its a perfect light base. I have yet to try other eye shadow primers but am really interested in trying the Too Faced one. I have heard a lot of good things about it. If you're not using anything at all, I would recommend you start to use a primer if your really looking for a dramatic "smokey eye" or any other dramatic eye look.

Photobucket

If you are also using 'Painterly' as a primer, apply it from the lash line all the way to the brow. This will allow your brow highlighter to really do its job when you are ready to apply it.

Don't mind my untamed brows...hehe

When I do my "smokey eye" look, I usually use 2 different eye shadows: a color of choice and of course...black! For this look I have chosen to use a neutral color such as brown. I selected MAC 'Embark' and applied it all over the lid to the crease. You know when you hit the crease because you can feel as if you are applying your eyeshadow to the roundness of your eyeball. With 'Painterly', it could get annoying, since it is so thick, your eyeshadow may have a hard time coming on and could look very patchy and uneven. Just blend it in with your finger. If the corners of your eyes seem to have a hard time blending, just pull your eye and then blend it with your finger. Just keep in mind that there are no mistakes! Just happy accidents!

After you have blended the base shadow to your liking, apply your choice of black eyeshadow to the outer V, using a thick angle brush. I used MAC 'Black Tied', just because I wanted to add some shimmer. Any black eyeshadow is perfect for this look. I have found this type of brush to be the easiest to apply to the outer V with, since it gives you the accuracy of a regular angle brush, and the blending of a normal blending brush.

Using your blending brush, blend the black that you have just applied to your outer V, inwards towards the middle of your eye. Apply more black eyeshadow to the crease with a thinner brush (the roundness of your eyeball) as it will give you a contoured sexy look, and blend with your blending brush.

Blend the shadow on your brow bone using a highlighting shadow. Blend the black in with the highlighting shadow to get that "smokey look". The highlighing shadow I had used was the highlighting shadow that came with my MAC eyebrow palette. The color is called 'Ivory'.

The key to the smokey eye is to blend blend blend!!!

All those "mistakes" you think you had made up until this point can all be erased simply by blending. Using the highlighting powder or shadow enables you to blend a lot easier and gives the black a very washed out, blended, and smokey look up until the brow...and you can go past the brow if you like.

Photobucket

You can apply more black shadow and blend to your liking if you are looking for a more dramatic look. Its all up to you! At this point you have plenty of room to play around without error. Once your eyeshadow is blended, it gets easier to blend more black into your eyelid and get the darker look.

I like to apply my eyeliner now. Sometimes people apply eyeliner in the beginning, but I have found that this way it is much easier and comes out cleaner looking. You won't need to re-line your eyeliner and possibly mess up.

Photobucket

Blend your eyeliner using a thin angle brush. Blend it towards the outer V and upwards. This gives your eye the effect that the line is natural. Apply your liner to the water line of your eye if you choose, or your lower lash line. I personally like to apply it to my waterline because it is much simpler for me to do so. I find it messy at times to apply it to my lower lash line because the lashes get in the way and tend to make it look unclean. If you do apply liner to your lower lash line, blend it in with your angle brush.

Some people who wear eyeliner alone, or apply it first tend to like to blend it in with a Q-tip. I find this to be a cheap alternative to blending...since you don't have to buy an angle shadow brush if you dont have one...but then again the Q-tip tends to wipe a lot of the product away at times. I would recommend getting an angle shadow brush, because you will find it necessary for many different things. You can also use it touch up and fill in your eyebrows.

Photobucket

Add mascara to put the icing on the cake! Curl your lashes if you like...or apply falsies! Smokey eyes look amazing with false eyelashes and really make your eyes pop! I usually wear falsies with my smokey eye look, but today chose to go lash-mando ("commando" but on the eyes...lol). So no falsies for me today. I didn't want to deal with having to take them off.
Since I've gotten pregnant I have stopped using Revitalash, which is a product I swore by. It really does work to make your eyelashes longer and fuller! A little bit after I did stop using it, you realize that your eye lashes go through growth cycles, just like the rest of your hair. It eventually falls out and new hair grows back, so after some time, your normal lashes will grow back, with their normal, natural length. This is what has happened to me. It wasn't too long ago that I had my long lucious lashes...I miss them. After I have this baby I am overdoing it on the Revitalash! I need to get those lashes back! If you are looking to buy Revitalash you can get some here - SkinStore.com

Photobucket

With a dramatic look on your eyes such as the smokey eye, its usually a better choice to go for a nude or lighter lip. I chose to go with MAC Creamsheen lipstick in 'Creme Cup', which is a creamy pinkish nude color, along with the matching MAC Creamsheen lipgloss in 'Partial to Pink'. If you go for a dramatic lip, with a dramatic eye, it might cause your face to clash and would look like too much. Most celebrity makeup artists choose to apply a nude or lighter lip color to go along with the "smokey eye".

I hope you have found this helpful in case you have any trouble with the ever so popular "smokey eye" look. Let me know how it worked out for you!

Enjoy!

Razzle Dazzled!

I know I have been blogging about makeup a lot lately, but it mainly because I have been going through a little obsession with MAC. Its been a while since I've purchased anything from them and now since my dry spell is over...I'm kind of hooked. I'm still flushed with ideas and will have some more posts coming for you guys as well as some product reviews, but for now...lets talk about how excited I am because...

MAC Dazzleglass is back!

I will be picking up a few next time I hit up the mall, even though they run $18 bucks a pop. I was hoping they would lower the price, but I'm obsessed with lip products so, I'll manage to deal with it!
My dad always told me it was a good thing! Keeping your lips moisturized is a must! Be careful though, never wear lipgloss to the beach or places where you will be exposed to the sun for extended periods of time because your lips are made of delicate skin and lip gloss may intensify sun burning them and can cause long term damage.

Thats why I always wear sunblock on my lips if I'm going to beach. You can either apply a little bit of zinc oxide...which are sold in little tubs in any drug store, or buy a children's sunblock stick...which is perfect for application to delicate areas like on your face and your lips!
Okay, enough of that...back to the fun stuff!

MAC Dazzleglasses are back and some of them are here to stay!

When MAC had previously launched the Dazzleglass collection, I had picked up one tube of Dazzleglass in 'Sugarrimmed', which is a milky, pale pink with red, teal, and white pearl glitter, and I have been obsessed with it. I'm almost out and very excited to be getting some more!

I really want to buy it in 'Baby Spakrs' which is a pale pink with violet pearl glitter. Very pretty, and its pink...you guys know how much I love anything pink!

These glosses are SUPER STICKY! They can get quite annoying on a windy day. If your hair gets stuck to your gloss and you try to move your hair away, you just might get that swipe of gloss all across your cheek and in your hair. Other than that, they last a very long time and are not drying at all!

The glosses are super glittery, but the glitter does not feel gritty on your lips like other glittery lipglosses tend to feel. This is one thing that sets this set of glosses apart! They feel beautiful on your lips!

Photobucket

Too Faced had come out with Diamond Gloss, which was a $14 dupe to MAC Dazzleglasses, but they feel gritty and dry out pretty quickly. I wasn't too happy with them. I prefer the MAC Dazzleglass, by a longshot.

MAC Swatch - Saint Germain

Last time I was by the MAC booth I picked up 'Saint Germain' lipstick from the MAC limited edition Sugarsweet Collection. 'Saint Germain' is actually a perfect dupe for 'Melrose Mood' from a previous collection - MAC Heatherette.

Saint Germain is an amplified finish clean pastel pink. It's very bright and comes on super smooth. This color can be very "in your face". I like to apply just a bit to give me that perfect light pale pink. If you apply more, it could look quite neon pink. I love how you can control how strong and vibrant the color is depending on application.

I love this color, its very Barbie-ish and perfect for spring!

My next purchase from the Sugarsweet Collection will be the lipstick in 'Bubbles' which was actually brought back!

MAC Lip Swatches - Creamsheen

I received my MAC Creamsheen lipstick in 'Lavender Whip' with the matching gloss in 'Ever So Rich' today. I had to buy them from eBay because I thought they would be sold out everywhere, but they still have some left over at the MAC booth at the Dillard's at the local mall here. I was so mad when I found out! They had some Hello Kitty stuff left over as well. I picked up 'Fashion Mews', which was also claimed to be sold out everywhere, but I'm telling you ladies, you might find it somewhere!!!

I know I may be late...and everyone has done swatches for these shades already, but I wanted to do some swatches for my friends who have not yet seen any. I have also noticed how at times some swatches may come out a lot lighter, or darker than the color really is, so I tried really hard to take as many pictures as possible to get the most accurate color, rather than what looks the cutest.

I love the Creamsheen collection from MAC. The lipstick comes on very thick and creamy. Even without the gloss you get a very nice shine to your lips. I am in love with 'Creme Cup' and it has become an everyday lipstick for me.

Photobucket

'Creme Cup' is a nude-like pinkish color. It reminds me of a mix between 'Hue' and 'Angel' which are two of my all time favorite lipstick shades from MAC. 'Partial to Pink' Creamsheen lipgloss is a perfect match for 'Creme Cup'. The colors perfectly accommodate one another. The gloss gives the lipstick an extra oomph of shine. 'Partial to Pink' is also a light nude pinkish color. Worn alone, the gloss has enough (not too much, but enough) pigment to give your lips a cute pink pout.

My Creamsheen Collection - Hand Swatch

Photobucket

'Lavender Whip' is a light pastel lavender. 'Ever so Rich' is the matching gloss to 'Lavender Whip'. Teamed up with the lipstick, the gloss looks great, but alone, you can barely see it. Its very see-thru and not very pigmented at all.

Photobucket

I wanted to compare 'Lavender Whip' to other lavender colores lipsticks that I have. I compared it to MAC Hello Kitty Limited Edition 'Fashion Mews' and NYX Round Lipstick in 'Power', both of which I had just recently purchased.

Photobucket

'Lavender Whip' is much more of a strictly lavender color, while 'Fashion Mews' comes on rather pinkish and 'Power' has a mauve-like pinkish hue to it.

NYX Cosmetics - Swatches

Yesterday I finally received my Cherryculture.com purchases in the mail.

I got 2 NYX Round Lipsticks in Power and Strawberry Milk and I also got 1 Girls Round Liploss in Baby Pink.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

I got 'Power' because it was a lavender-ish color. I assumed it would be comparable to 'Lavender Whip' but Power has much more a pinkish hue to it. I'll have a comparison swatch for you guys later between the two. Power comes on as a light mauve-like pink color. Its very pretty and I like how the lipstick is very creamy, glossy and smooth. I love the texture and shine you get with just a few swipes! The quality of the lipstick is incredible and it only costs $2 on cherryculture.com!

Look how smooth and glossy! This is just the lipstick alone on bare lips.
Photobucket

Strawberry Milk is a gorgeous slightly shimmery baby pink. Its very pigmented enough to see the color with just a few swipes as well, and has a very nice slippery texture to it when its on your lips. It feels like butter, I love it! It's also a color that is very easy to wear. Its a perfect pink pout with just the right amount of shimmer.

Photobucket

The Baby Pink lipgloss is extremely sheer. I thought it would be a lot more pigmented than it is since my last NYX lipgloss purchase was Pinky Natural, and it was so pigmented! It has a nice shimmer to it but you can't really see much of the pink when its on your lips. It sort of just adds on and enhances the natural color of your lips with loads of shimmer and its not sticky.
